A celebration of hugot, love, and new beginnings! #MarceloMeetAndGreet

February 01, 2020

Fans of Marcelo Santos III’s books flocked the Activity Area of Fisher Mall Malabon last January 25, 2020 (Saturday) as he announced that this might be his first and last book signing and meet & greet event for the year 2020 to focus on his YouTube channel, MarceloTV which recently reached 200,000+ subscribers. Together with Viva Books and Pandayan Bookshop, Marcelo and his readers celebrated his written works that continue to inspire hundreds of readers that are struggling in life and love.

One lucky reader who went to the venue before the doors opened caught the attention of Marcelo himself on Twitter. Because of the reader’s dedication and effort, he told her that she will receive a special gift once they meet at the event. And to the reader’s surprise, she received a special copy of the self-published version of his first bestselling novel, “Para sa Hopeless Romantic”. (As seen on the picture below)

Before the book signing and meet & greet with Marcelo, Viva Records artist, Joshua Feliciano serenaded the audience with show-stopping covers of the song “Buwan” and “Binalewala”. Ivy of Ppop Generation also amazed the audience with her beautiful vocals as she sang a cover of “ And I Love You So” and her single, “Hindi Nag-iba”. Both artists filled the hearts of the audience with hugot right in time for the main event, the meet & greet with the hugot king himself, Marcelo Santos III.

Loyal readers of Marcelo lined up and brought their book collection of Marcelo’s titles to have it signed and have their photo taken with him. Readers were all smiles as they wait for their turn to talk to Marcelo. As this event might be his last book signing and meet & greet for the year, readers from far places travelled all the way to Malabon just to see their Kuya Em, as his readers call him. Despite the bittersweet feeling, readers and Marcelo himself really savored the moment and bonded with each other until the last minute, even taking more selfies with the crowd.

Before the event came to an end, Marcelo gave a short speech to show his utmost gratitude to those who continue to support and love his craft. Marcelo also assured the crowd that he will just rest and focus more on his YouTube channel, Marcelo TV. In addition, he also encouraged aspiring writers to continue writing and to never give up on their passion like what he did when he was still starting to achieve his dream of becoming one. He also told readers to support local authors as there are a lot of Filipino writers that have novels and books that deserve more appreciation and recognition.

Despite his absence in the writing scene for a while, you can still catch him and his words through his social media accounts and his YouTube channel, MarceloTV! So don’t forget to like, follow, and subscribe to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuae_-mBgCRB78rKNok6gFw!
